Seeing his family again had been long overdue. His heart was so full of emotions that it nearly burst out of his chest while he hugged his parents. No need to say they also thought he might have died during the past year and seeing him broke them indeed. Even his father cried while holding him tightly. His mother, of course, could barely keep her hands off him, as though he would disappear once again should she let go of him. This was a very emotional reunion.
The big surprise was to see his sister. Their relationship had always been rather difficult ever since he proved to be a wizard and she a muggle, only worsening when he became a werewolf, but Gwen loved her brother and she too feared he might have died. Reuniting with her too had been something. It helped bringing them back together. He was even awarded a joke from her pointing out how older he looked with the grey slowly showing in his hair and the wrinkles he got. The joys of being a werewolf.
In the middle of all this, he also introduced Heather to them and Annie. They were quite surprised to see they were now grandparents but also very pleased. They didn't have a lot of space in the house and all three of them had no choice but to squeeze themselves in Gwen's old room, Thomas' having been turned into an office in the meantime. It was a good thing his sister moved out or else it would have proven difficult.
Thomas went to bed completely drained from all this. He still woke up rather early and found his mother cooking breakfast for everyone. He helped her out, talking with her of Heather and how much he felt for her. He had no idea when she'd walked down but he was too busy anyway talking with his mother and making breakfast to really think about this. She'd go down in due time anyway. She always followed a schedule anyway, even when on vacations. He laughed as his mother suggested to show his father's ship to them. Annie might be impressed but he just imagined how Heather's OCD would kick in and make her lose her head.
