. Passive . Faolan . Quiet .
Faolan walked up the steps and into the Owlery. Almost immediately there was a soft warning hoot and an owl landed on his shoulder guard, something he had learned to wear there for an owl to perch on. While not his own owl (who knew who's, but someones) it rubbed against the side of his head as he laughed with delight and rubbed the owl in return right on the crest, getting a click of beaks in approval. He rubbed for a good minute stopped near the doorway before the owl relented the pressure (much like a cat giving head to an approved-of human) and flapped it's wings to go back up into the crowd of others.
"Thanks! I like you too, whatever-your name is" he exclaimed cheerfully as he walked the rest of the way over to the roosts where three or four owls settled waiting expectantly. Lan, with the clearly experienced hands of a breeder (though he had only learned about healing owl wings and minor cuts so far and could not do the full job) ran them over each owl, making clicking and imitation cooing sounds he had been taught to ease them looking for any injuries or sore spots. As he did so he spoke under his breath to each owl clearly knowing few names. "Wow, what did you do? It's like you banged into a wall or something" and one "Okay I have to tell the professor about that one. I'm sorry it's tender."
He gave each owl a piece of bacon from his bag and moved onto the next owl. Clearly they were familiar with his visits, but his face was the best part. It's look of awe and delight in being trusted by these majestic creatures was clear, his wonder at how he could tell about injuries without hurting them even more a surprise in his eyes. He loved being able to help out or even learn some basics about owls even if it wasn't his job nor responsibility. From his summers working with a muggle who healed hawk wings to asking every question in the book to the COMC professor (ahead of his classes with them) with a clear passion about birds of all kinds.
