Seventeen years after the Battle of Hogwarts, and most Death Eaters are treated practically as slaves as they work off their crimes as punishment. Only the worst of the worst were sent to Azkaban, though at this point, that might have been preferred to treatment outside of the prison. The treatment of purebloods, even, is worsening by the day, as many think them to be just as guilty as Death Eaters. Attacks on more prominent pureblood families are becoming more common by radicals who want to eradicate all of the guilty purebloods, whether they had ties to Voldemort or not.
The Wizarding World doesn't realize that they're on the brink of another war as a rebellion is planned by Death Eater, Miles Brant--some Death Eaters just want equality, some want revenge, but even with Headmistress McGonagall attempting to maintain balance, the new Minister's agenda may cause war to break out sooner rather than later.
